Tortilla Wraps with Ground Beef

Ingredients
For the Ground Beef Filling:
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Wrap Assembly:
- 4–6 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- ½ cup salsa or hot sauce (optional)
- 1 avocado or guacamole (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil (if using) and sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent.
- Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in the tomato paste (if using), cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well combined and heated through. Remove from heat.
Step 2: Warm the Tortillas
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet, in the oven wrapped in foil, or briefly in the microwave until soft and pliable.
Step 3: Assemble the Wraps
- Lay each tortilla flat on a clean surface.
- Spoon a portion of the seasoned ground beef into the center.
- Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and any other desired toppings.
- Add a dollop of sour cream or guacamole if using.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to form a wrap.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with a side of rice, tortilla chips, or a simple green salad.
- Cut in half and wrap in foil or parchment for easy packing.
